Cades Cove Views

Updated: Aug 21, 2019

Last month I visited the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee with family. Cades Cove was my favorite place we visited! It's an 11 mile one way loop that has beautiful landscapes all around, hiking trails, historic buildings and opportunities to see wildlife. On the drive to the Cove, we saw a mama bear and two cubs.

Here are a few of my favorite sights from the entrance of Cades Cove.

This is a Primitive Baptist church which was established in 1827. Inside a harpist was playing familiar hymns for people coming in and out to enjoy. He said he usually tries to come to the church a couple times a week to play for people. What a great way to share a talent!

Inside the next historic church we stopped at, I made friends with Gram, who had his tripod set up and was photographing the church. He showed me the image he was working on which included an old Bible of his and showed a grave headstone through the window. Gram graciously encouraged me to take a similar image, After chatting about photography, different gear, and landscapes, he allowed me to take his portrait as well.

Regardless of where I am, I still gravitate to photographing people.

I enjoyed my first trip to Cades Cove, I liked meeting new people, as well as taking in the amazing the views, like this one!
